You don't have to panic every time the AC breaks down, especially during the summer. Calling your Tampa air conditioner repair people is actually not the first thing to do. So here are four ways to try and revive your AC when it stops working.

Clean the filters. One of the top reasons for air conditioning breakdowns is clogged filters. AC repair shops often get units that have stopped giving off cool air simply because the filters haven't been cleaned since it was installed. Air conditioning repair fees can get expensive, especially for industrial sized units. Save money by unclogging filters at least once a month.

Check the compressor. Most AC repairs have to do with the unit's compressor so when your air conditioner suddenly stops working, this is the part you should check first. If your compressor fails, your whole air conditioning system will fail. Check around the compressor for any signs of damage or wear and tear. Listen to the compressor for any irregular noises. Look around the compressor for frost build-up too. If you notice any of these things, it may be a sign of a more serious problem. This is the time you should call your air conditioning repair shop in Tampa.

You're compressor might need extra care If you live in a relatively cold, wet, or high altitude area. The efficiency of air compression depends on air temperature, atmospheric pressure and relative humidity. The rating of an air compressor therefore depends on ambient conditions. AC repair would probably be more needed, given these conditions. You might also need to regularly oil the compressor. Oil is used to lubricate the piston as it moves inside the cylinder. If there is an oil leak within the compressor, further damage may happen in other parts of the unit.

Check the controller. Since the controller gets handled a lot, some degree of damage can come from mishandling this part. AC repair or troubleshooting can starts with the controllers. HVAC systems have different settings for cooling and heating, and your air conditioner will not function if the wrong setting is set. If you're unit still doesn't work after you've taken a look at the controller, try asking your Tampa air conditioning repair shop to set it for you.

If all else fails, reset the unit. This is a very simple and fast way to troubleshoot your AC unit. Go to the meter box and turn off the switch. Some compressors may also have an external isolator switch which should also be turned off. Keep both of these switches in the off position for a few minutes before restarting. Although this it's a simple thing to try, it often works and may well bring your air conditioner back to life. You can save yourself and the AC repair shop a lot of trouble just by this re-setting.

Check Freon levels. This is not really a job for the inexperienced so for this part, ask your air conditioning repair vendor for help. An air conditioner contains a set of small pipes that hold Freon. As warm air that comes through the return vent blows across these pipes, the heat from the air is transferred into the liquid refrigerant, which causes it to boil. As it boils it changes into a gas. A basic law of physics is that when a liquid boils and changes into a gas, the gas takes the heat with it. When your Freon levels are too low, cool air will fail to be produced. The AC repair shop can do this for you immediately, just like Ken Barret Air Conditioning Repairs. The serve areas of Tampa, Carrollwood, Lutz, Temple Terrace, and Hillsborough. They also provide commercial refrigerator repair.

Everyone thinks that servicing appliances has to be a costly endeavor. However, with a few simple tricks, appliance maintenance doesn't have to break the bank. There are small, but vital things every homeowner can do to mitigate the cost of replacing a washer, dryer or refrigerator. Working in conjunction with a reputable appliance maintenance and repair shop, a homeowner can easily prolong the life and maintain invaluable comfort at home.

Most homes contain an average array of appliances, refrigerator, washer, dryer, garbage disposal. Each appliance requires simple, regular maintenance to ensure that it doesn't break down on a Friday night and face, a weekend without clean dishes, or fresh food, or pay a costly after hours visit.

The compressor on the refrigerator should be cleaned twice a year. The water hoses should also be checked for cracks or bulges. For any other problems, such as sweating in the fresh food compartment, not cold, excessive frost in the freezer, leaning water, contact your local appliance maintenance repair shop.

Don't hear any turning or humming when the garbage disposal is turned on? Try resetting the garbage disposal. Every garbage disposal unit comes with a reset button located at the bottom of the disposal unit (beneath the unit under your sink, not inside the garbage disposal itself). Hold the button down for a couple of seconds and try turning on the unit again. For more serious issues, such as water leakage, loud, grinding noises, or a dead unit, your local appliance maintenance is only a phone call away.

Self-cleaning ovens should be wiped down and racks removed to shorten cleaning time. Also, if the oven has plug in burners, make sure they are fully plugged in after cleaning. Call you're your local appliance repair shop for any of the following problems: sparking, leaky door seal, burning food, undercooking, overcooking, self-cleaning function not working.

Regular maintenance for washers include "the rule of Two", meaning two (2) tablespoons of high efficiency (HE) detergent, softener or bleach. Ensure the washer is level, replace the fill hoses ever five (5) years (factory recommended), Avoid overloading. The #1 Killer of washing machines is overloading. Call your local appliance repair shop for any of the following issues: No agitation or spin, leaks, no pump out, Clothes too wet at end of cycle, no hot water, too much vibration during spin cycle.

Make sure the filters are regularly cleaned in dryers. Make sure the vent pipe isn't kinked if the clothes take too long to dry. Contact your local appliance maintenance repair shop for any of the following problems: little or no heat, no tumble, noisy or if the dryer must be run twice to fully dry the clothes.

Dishwasher maintenance is fairly straightforward. It is recommended to wipe all of the food off dishes prior to washing, only use a high quality detergent and rinse agent, and make sure the water is at 120 degrees. Contact your local appliance maintenance repair shop for any of the following: No water, dishwasher leaking, hums then shuts off, no water pump out, doesn't clean dishes well or cloudy glassware.

It's possible, with a little preventative maintenance, to prolong the life of costly household appliances. The tips above can help any homeowner to easily and thriftily provide continued comfort for the family. Regular maintenance, in conjunction with a reputable appliance repair specialist can keep your appliances running at full efficiency all year long.

I've been answering questions on Fixya, Amazon Askville and Yahoo Answers lately... Google had something like Yahoo Answers as well but it is now closed down. Looks like there's one more called http://Uclue.com, it's a paid answer service I think I'll check out. These are great resources, I like to see free things that are actually useful!

I actually started my own site some time ago and wanted to make it a free forum where you could post questions about anyting digital and people could help you with problems or questions. It was to be a free site where I would have some small Google AdSense banners and if I made a couple bucks a month that would be just fine. I just wanted a place where I could help people fix stuff instead of throwing it in the trash. Problem is I don't have the funds to pay for somebody to develop it and maintain it. I'm just one guy with a couple employees trying to do the best he can.

Fixya was purchased by Best Buy, now it's 'Geek Squad Fixya' .... sigh... It's SAD that people still fall for the whole 'Geek Squad' thing. Geek Squad was formed here in Minneapolis and USED to mean something. The guys were real computer geeks and knew their stuff! They were quite expensive and charged flat rate fees for the job. I did use them years ago before I knew much of anything about fixing computers and kinda regretted it because of the cost, but overall they did a decent job on my old tower.

Geek Squad now is nothing more than the SAME OLD /hr part timers that Best Buy used to have but now they have fancy shirts, a large fleet of EXPENSIVE custom cars and they are called Geeks. Sounds good to me! What is Best Buys yearly advertising expenditure? million? More? Where does that money come from? Where do the GS cars etc. come from and who pays for it all? YOU DO, that's who.

Think Geek Squad is going to offer to fix your camera or computer for a reasonable price? How could they with all that stuff to pay for?

I have been making my living fixing that which the GS cannot for several years... since 2003 I think it was when we started.

BB (and pretty much every other retail store for that matter) takes all the stuff you return to the store and the stuff that GS can't fix and the manifest it and then auction it off by the 53' truckload. To be more accurate, BB gathers everything from a certain area and manifests it all together so you may in fact be bidding on several truckloads worth several hundred thousand dollars retail. The loads are labled as "cities" so if you are bidding on "Bloomington" you are actually bidding on everything from MN, WI, ND, SD and IA. We used to buy truckloads, sort it, repair it and resell it on eBay. My friend and the guy who got me into all this mess still does it and he's doing great.

Please don't email me and tell me "Store X doesn't do that, they return it to the manufacturer". First, I don't know what EVERY store does, and second most stores do NOT return items to the manufacturer even if they tell you in the store that they do. Go to BB and ask an employee what happens to an item you return; they have NO IDEA so they will tell you it's returned to the manufacturer. It is a matter of pure fact that they don't.

For example: Your laptop that stopped working and you returned to the store used to be sold to guys like me and I would fix it and have access to your hard drive exactly as it was the day it stopped working!! The stores were SUED becuase personal information was found on a hard drive, and I'm not 100% sure, but the person with the customers information may have used it for illegal purposes. Don't quote me on that though!

Now they drill holes in all the hard drives before they sell them. It sucks for guys like me that are honest and would reformat the drive and reinstall Windows as we now have to buy all new hard drives for any laptops we repair. I hate how a few bad people can ruin things for the rest of us.

Anyway... I try and help people on Fixya as much as I can. Fixya Terms of Use prohibit me posting a link to anywhere outside of Fixya that would help somebody fix whatever it is they need help with. Think about that for a minute. I know they don't want me spamming for FREE advertising, but I can't post a link to anything that will help you!

Fixya actually cancelled my first account and deleted all my posts... several hundred fo them in fact. I would give people advice regarding their damaged cameras including: "1- Send it in for warranty repair if it's less than a year old, 2- Buy a defective camera for parts online and fix one from the two, 3- If you can't do those or fix it yourself maybe we can help, 4- If we can't help feel free to ask us questions, we are here to help." I was told that what I was doing was "illegal" (actual quote!) and I should give people "general advice" about how to fix their item.

Yahoo Answers is free, and so is Fixya but Fixya does have a pay for help option. On Yahoo Answers you can ask anything about anything, but I have been sticking to cameras for the most part. There are so many people asking so many questions it's crazy! I like Yahoo Answers because I can post links to wherever I want and if all you do is spam people vote you down and you lose rating points. It's like a negative on eBay... they do that on Fixya too, nobody wants a negative.

So that's my Geek Squad rant for today... hopefully there was also some useful information in there as well.

Thomas Drayton

Regular scheduled maintenance can significantly reduce the cost of home repairs. Heating systems, air conditioners, and water heaters should be inspected once a year. Touch up painting, gutter cleaning, and deck and driveway power washing should also be performed at least once per year.

A general rule of thumb is that air conditioning and heating filters should be these checked and replaced during the spring and fall. Most indoor filters need to be replaced once a month. Check your vents to the duct work making sure they are clear of any debris and dust. Check and make sure the outdoor unit is clear and free from debris. Also make sure the condenser fins are not damaged ant the every thing is properly lubricated. If you live in an area where there are winter snows, this should be done in the fall, and the outside unit should always be securely covered before the first snow falls. Belts and pulley checked for tightness, and any areas that can be oiled by you should be. Always turn of the power before attempting any regular maintenance checks, and read your owner's manual first.

Refrigerators, stoves, and washing machines should be pulled out from the wall once a year. You can clean under the unit and check for any leaks, frayed wires, and any other visible damage. Carefully clean around coils and vent openings. Make sure that the dryer exhaust duct is clean, because a clogged duct can make your dryer work harder, and take more energy to dry your clothes. It is also a good idea to run a special cleaning agent through both your clothes washer, as well as you dishwasher, especially if you live in areas that have hard water. These cleaning agents are designed to break down deposits that have built up, and make your appliances run more efficiently.

There are many maintenance procedures you can perform yourself but some things should be left to professionals. For most people it easier and less expensive in the long run to contact a reputable appliance service technician and get on an annual inspection program. A service call can save you hundreds of dollars because a qualified technician will leave you with a safe and more efficient appliance. Qualified service repair people have specialized tools and test equipment that allow them to do a more thorough inspection. They can detect small issues before they become large unserviceable disasters. The also have the knowledge to check parts and systems that you don't have access to.

Even with all of these maintenance steps, there are going to be times when your appliances break down. If you don't already have it, you should consider appliance insurance. This is not the same as homeowner's insurance. It covers repairs and replacement to your major appliances through normal wear and tear, or even emergencies. Homeowner's insurance only covers them if they are damages in direct result to a fire or flood, and whatever else you have coverage for, not general repairs.

Lint is highly flammable which makes it good fuel for a fire to spread throughout your dryer vent system and your home. As your dryer is working moisture and lint are removed from your clothes. The moist lint sticks to the sides of the dryer ducts and eventually builds up. Over time this reduces airflow, the dryer works harder and the motor overheats. This is a fire hazard and the cause of increased energy consumption.
Dryer Vent Inspection and Safety Tips
Clean the lint trap after every load of laundry even if there is only a small amount of lint on the screen. The lint should be dry; if its wet then there is an airflow problem most likely due to lint build-up in the dryer ducts. Wash the lint screen with soapy water every few months to remove residue from dryer sheets. Check the screen for tears.
Look for lint on the floor behind and around the dryer. If there is lint around the dryer then you need to have a dryer vent specialist inspect the system; this is a sign that it is time for dryer vent cleaning.
Go outside and inspect the dryer vent hood while the dryer is running to be sure it is opening and there is airflow. You should see it working; if not, then it is time for a good dryer vent cleaning and inspection.
If clothes are taking more than one cycle to dry this is a sign of restricted airflow. It is not a sign that the dryer is wearing out even if it is very old. Other signs of poor airflow are clothes having a moldy or smoky smell when they come out of the dryer or if laundry is very hot when you remove it.
More Safety Tips for the Laundry Room
Do not place clothes or rags soaked with flammable materials in the dryer even if they have been washed. Some combustible residue can remain on the fabric and cause a fire hazard. These items should be line dried.
Laundry rooms make great storage areas but do not store flammable chemicals like paint thinners or lighter fluid near the clothes dryer.
Never leave the house or go to sleep when the dryer is running.
Dryer Vent Cleaning and Maintenance
Dryer vent cleaning is recommended at least once a year. There are products you can buy to clean your dryer ducts including brushes with rods that can be attached to a drill but most of these products are only good for short, straight dryer ducts. If you have a run longer that 10 feet or one with elbows then its a good idea to call a dryer vent cleaning professional to do the job. A dryer vent repair and maintenance specialist will have the equipment needed to do the job right. Since most dryer exhaust systems are installed by homeowners many have problems that need to be addressed.
Dryer Vent Repairs and Alterations
A dryer vent professional can do a thorough inspection of your dryer vent system to be sure it meets current safety codes. Plastic or vinyl ducts should be replaced with rigid or semi-rigid metal. Depending on the location of your clothes dryer this can prove to be a big job, sometimes requiring tearing into a wall or ceiling.
Dryer vent cleaning, repair and proper installation are critical to preventing fires and ensuring your dryer exhaust system is working efficiently. The fee for this service is small compared to the loss of your home should you have a fire. In addition the money saved on energy bills and appliance repair bills is much more than the service charge for dryer vent cleaning and maintenance.
Emilie Benvegna is the owner of Dryer Vent Wizard of Charlotte, North Carolina. She specializes in all dryer vent and dryer exhaust issues, providing dryer vent cleaning, repair and installation while educating her customers on dryer fire prevention and energy savings. To promote public awareness on the importance of dryer vent cleaning and maintenance Emilie has posted informative articles on her blog at http://dryerventcleaninghuntersville.blogspot.com/

Escalators and moving walks have helped transport large quantities of people for the past several decades. With proper precautions, users are able to move quickly and safely while avoiding the limit and exertion of walking or taking the stairs.

An escalator is set of continuous moving stairs. Escalators are power operated and function by a constant moving driving system which allows one to ascend and descend from floor to floor, without the exertion of a traditional staircase or the weight of an elevator. A moving handrail completes every escalator and provides extra security to riders. For safety purposes any item with wheels such as wheelchairs and strollers should not be brought onto the escalator.

A moving walk way is also referred to as a moving sidewalk. A moving walk way is a giant conveyor belt or set of moving metal plates, designed to move people quickly from one point to another. The moving walk only moves horizontally, sometimes with a slight incline, and is often found in large airport terminals. Moving walks allow a large quantity of people to move quickly through a given area. Moving walks also have a moving handrail to assist in keeping passengers safe. Riders are free to move about while on a moving walk. They can continue walking to hasten their trip or take a rest and let the moving walk do the work. Passengers are also able to bring baggage, strollers, wheel chairs, and other wheeled devices onto the moving walk, while maintaining the safety of all passengers.

When riding an escalator or moving walk way it is very important to follow appropriate safety precautions to ensure personal safety.

- Always check that hair, clothing, and accessories are securely tied back or tucked in. Loose items have the potential to become entangled and can pose a serious safety risk.

- Pay close attention to the direction of the escalator/moving walk way before you step on.

- Step carefully onto the escalator stairs/moving walk way.

- Grasp the railing at all times with a free hand. Maintain your grip on the rail being careful to avoid the wall below the handrail.

- If traveling with small children, hold their hand. Older children may hold the railing while riding.

- Bags, packages, purses, and any other personal belongings should never be placed on escalator stairs.

- Carry personal items close to your body and away from escalator/moving walk mechanisms.

- Stand firmly in the middle of the stair or moving walk way.

- Never sit on the escalator or moving side walk.

- Use caution when exiting the moving side walk or escalator.

- Continue moving after exiting an escalator or moving walk to ensure all passengers are able to exit safely.

- Never block the exit of an escalator or moving walk.

- Use extra caution if you wear bifocals.

- Open toed shoes should be avoided when using an escalator.

During an emergency, never ride an escalator or moving walk way. Always walk to the nearest emergency exit and follow instructions of emergency personnel.

Plumbing repairs are something everyone must eventually deal with. Trying to find a Plumbers San Antonio or San Anotino plumbing contractor for new construction, a remodeling project, or just providing plumbing repairs can sometimes be a crap shoot. Follow these few guidelines to help you find a qualified plumber in San Antonio.

Sink drains clogged? Bathtub drain blocked? Leaking pipes? Don't overlook plumbing problems at home. Good plumbing is one key to a healthy home and one that is free of mold. Residences with poor plumbing systems actually get to harbor harmful microorganisms that can cause a variety of diseases, such as gastro-intestinal illnesses or respiratory conditions.

If you feel like you're frequently experiencing plumbing problems at home, you may need the services of a plumbing company San Antonio. Small plumbing issues may be undertaken by a homeowner with some DIY plumbing skills. But recurring issues would require more than the repairs skills of an amateur. As with other home remodeling tasks, you've got to put the job at the hands of a professional.

When Do I Need to Call a Plumber in San Antonio or a San Anotino Plumbing Contractor? Some common problems found with plumbing include: Rattling pipes; may be caused by several factors, most commonly because they are not sufficiently secured or strapped to the wall frame. The pipes may need to be properly secured. Slow drains; may be partially clogged. If a kitchen sink, the dishwasher may be improperly plumbed. The drain may need to be unclogged, or the dishwasher plumbing corrected. Loss of hot water when another faucet is turned on; especially in older homes when hot and cold water pressures are not balanced. A pressure balance valve may be required. Toilet tank leaks; plumbing parts inside the tank or seals may need replacing.

To make sure these plumbing repair problems are properly addressed, or when doing a remodeling project, you may want to enlist the services of a licensed San Antonio, Boerne, Dominion or Shavano Park plumbing ontractor.

Some folks may say to you that you don't actually need a pro to fix your plumbing system. After all, there are DIY plumbing renovation videos and instructions online that can guide you. That may work for a person that's used with doing manual tasks. But if you're not good with your hands at all, why bother spending time researching and practicing hard to learn plumbing skills when you can just simply pay for some pro to do the job? You may spend some good amount of dough in the process, but it sure is money well spent.

Just a quick search can put you in touch with a good San Antonio, Boerne, Dominion or Shavano Park plumbing company who is competing to get a client's attention. To narrow down your choices, you got to do a little bit of research. Although it is good to listen to recommendations of your friends and neighbors, it is always best to rely on your own research.

You can start by looking through advertisements in the papers or in the Yellow Page. A plumbing company in San Antonio, Boerne, Dominion or Shavano Park who places ads in papers and phone backs are most likely legitimate businesses. However, if you choose a top franchise like Ben Franklin Plumbers or Benjamin Franklin Plumbers, you can always be assured of quality work.

Once you compile a short list, you can narrow it down further by conducting more research. Licensed San Antonio plumbers usually have membership with national associations. It's a good sign if your prospective plumbing contractor is a member of recognized organizations like the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters.

Ask around for references from people you know. Everyone has plumbing and everyone eventually has plumbing problems. References from people who have already used a service is the best of all.

You can also check out the plumbing contractors ratings with the Better Business Bureau in your state as well. Sure, you can take into consideration positive comments in the contractor's website, but it is always a reasonable precaution to double check BBB ratings.

If you love cooking food or you have to cook food most of the times in day, you will be surely helped by having a good quality food processor. A food processor is a multitasking kitchen appliance. It helps you in pre-cooking preparations which consume a lot of time. Like several other kitchen appliances, there are several brands offering food processors. There are different models of food processors available with different features. When thinking of buy food processor, make it a point consider a few important factors to get the best one.

The most basic food processors offer the basic features such as slicing, shredding and chopping. These are the most basic functions you can expect from a food processor. However, these days food processors are coming with several features. These food processors can perform any preparation task required to be done in the kitchen. If you want to shred 10 KGs of carrots to make Gajar ka Halwa, you can do that within 15 minutes. Yes, I am not exaggerating! I am saying this with my experience. Otherwise if you do it with hands using a traditional manual grater, it will take around 2 hours and a lot of pain in your hands.

These machines are good if you like to have fresh fruit juice for your and your family. It has two type of juicer attachments; citrus and centrifugal. You can extract juice from fresh fruits and vegetables when you want that too without many hassles. You can also prepare smoothies and soups. With every food processor, there are different collection of blades and attachments. There are extra blades, extra bawls and additional and wider chutes. If you are looking for food processor with low price, search online for getting good deals.

When looking for a food processor, you need to consider safety features also. Having a look at blades and attachments is not enough. In addition, make sure that their clean up is also easy. The attachments should be such that you need not spend much time in cleaning of the parts of your machine. They should be dishwasher safe. Moreover, assembling the parts should be as easy as putting down.

As Food Processors come in different sizes and capacities, it is important to determine your requirements and expectations. If you have a small family or you will be using it occasionally, it is best to have small capacity food processors. On the other hand for meeting needs of larger family, choose a larger food processor. Naaptol.com is a reputed online store. You can visit it for reading reviews and features of several different food processors and compare them before actually buying one.

I think it's probably safe to say that there aren't many business owners around the world who start their companies with a vision to remain small. Even in a modest sized city like Austin, SEO firms work on a daily basis to try to help small companies grow into international operations. While most small businesses never do reach that lofty vision, they are able to significantly grow beyond their local borders into a state or regional enterprise.

The point is a good SEO vendor could be your ticket to the world. If you find a provider that knows how to effectively market in your local area, and then help you expand at the state and regional level, your growth potential we be almost unlimited. The secret is finding an SEO provider that not only knows his business, but is also one that you can get along with in a "shared vision" sort of way.

Good Help Hard to Find

As it goes in the world of entry-level jobs at minimum wage, so it goes in the professional world as well. The truth is that good help is hard to find. That's why it's so important to take the time necessary to find a high quality marketing firm that seems to be a right fit for you. The last thing you need is a bad vendor relationship that could potentially destroy your business. Whomever you hire should not only be able to do the job, but they should be able to do it with passion, enthusiasm, and a desire to see your vision come to fruition.

Reaching Beyond the Local Level

Suppose your business is pretty small now, but you have the vision to eventually expand beyond Austin. SEO marketing that utilizes the most common ideas and marketing tools could be just what you need to realize that vision. Hopefully you can find a vendor that is well-versed in the local and state economy, and at least well positioned to take advantage of national and international markets as well. In other words, as you're interviewing vendors, keep in mind you will need an SEO provider that can grow with you.

The Difference between Failure and Success

Let's face it; there are lots of local businesses that never reach any kind of success beyond the city of Austin. SEO practices designed to go beyond city limits are invaluable in helping to grow your company from a local one to a state one and beyond. A vendor who can successfully use all the resources available to him, such as a social media and article marketing, puts your company is a position of better and faster growth.

And you thought SEO was simply keyword stuffing to drive more traffic to your website.

Austin SEO may be your ticket to business on an international level. So decide on your goals and vision and then start looking for a firm that can help you make the most out of your opportunities.
